Download Printer Drivers
Having Trouble Installing Your Printer?  We're Here To Help!

Downloading and installing your printer driver is quite simple.  All you need to know is what kind of Windows you're using and what kind of printer your using.  Just follow the following simple instructions.  You may want to write this down a piece of paper for your convenience.

  1. Find Your Printer Brand - First thing you need to do is find your printer brand, such as Oki, HP, Epson, Canon, etc..

  2. Visit Your Brand Web-Site - Your Printer Company Website is likely to be www.companyname.com.  For example, HP would be www.hp.com and Epson would be www.epson.com

  3. Choose Country (If Necessary) - Some companies don't have this, but some do (like Canon.com)  Choose North America or USA web-site.  Some Sites might say "Americas".

  4. Find "Drivers" - Most Printer Websites will have a button or a link that says "Drivers".  Click there.  If not, you may need to select Products, Printers, or Support category to see Drivers button.

  5. Choose Your Model - Now you can choose the type of printer you want the drivers for.  Such as... HP Deskjet 882c or Canon BJC-4800.

  6. Choose Your Language - Some websites won't have this.  But sites like HP, you need to choose English then "GO" in order to download a driver.

  7. Find Your OS - Most web-sites will give you a choice of OS.  Meaning, the type of Windows.  There are 8 types: Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.  Windows 9x means any Windows (except NT, 2000, and XP).  Choose the type of Windows your using.

  8. Find Download Link - Finally, if all goes well, your company website should provide you with numbers of available downloads for your printer.  Go ahead and download the printer drivers.  To download, you simply click on the filename or "Download" button, save on to disk, choose the location (memorize the location), and save.  The download may take anywhere from 3 minutes to 30 minutes.  While your downloading, go ahead and read the installation instructions.  Different printers install differently.

  9. Extract - After the download is complete, go ahead and double click on the file.   It should ask you if you want to unzip, uncompress, or extract the file.  Then it shows you where it will "extract" it to.  Click OK, Unzip, or Yes.

  10. Install Printer - Now your computer has what it takes to install the printer.  Follow the installation instructions that you viewed.

If your website did not provide you with any installation instructions, then it's simple.  Follow these installation instructions that work on most printers.

  1. Go to Start, then Control Panel, then Printers.

  2. Double Click on New Printer, Add Printer, or Install Printer.  (Windows XP: Choose file menu and Add Printer).
